Percy's Page
Eng/Am/NZ Ch. Penllyn Pimpernel 'Percy' In 2009 while visiting David Winsley in the UK we were introduced to the beautiful Percy. I was in love straight away, he was so beautiful. Imagine my surprise when David said that he was going to send him to New Zealand to the Tentyne Kennels. It was so exciting and we could hardly wait for the day he was to arrive. It didn't take Percy long to get used to living in New Zealand and he came out at his first show and won Best of group. Since then he has taken many Group wins and even took First Place in the Imported Stakes at Ardmore. Since arriving Percy has sired some lovely puppies and spends his days laying in the sun or running around the large dog field watering trees. He is not doing a lot of shows these days but still enjoys going out and showing off.
Below are the Sealyham Terrier Notes placed in Our Dog Magazine in England by David Winsley.
SEALYHAM TERRIER BREED NOTES 17/08/2009
By the time you are reading these breed notes Ch & Am Ch Penllyn Pimpernel should be settling down in his new home in New Zealand! He has gone to join the kennel of Lorayne Tennet, Lorayne has been breeding and showing Sealyhams for a number of years under her Tentyne kennel name. As we are here, there in New Zealand they have a very small gene-pool, so it is hoped that 'Percy' will help widen it with his excellnt breeding.
Born in June 2001 he was co-bred by Patsy Wood & Margery Good (they co-owned his dam), but owned by Patsy, his sire was her Ch & Am Ch P Proper Bloke II who himself became the first US Ch Sealyham to gain his UK title. His dam was a Polish import Am Ch Nota Z Werwa and she carries a lot of the famous Koncept lines. He was shown in the USA by Margery for a time and gained his title easily, then he was shown as a 'special' (Ch class only), his greatest win in the States was in 2004 when he won the Montgomery Specialty under the late Jim Wilson, handled by Leslie Jaseph.
'Percy' commenced his UK show career at the end of 2004, he won his first CC at National Terrier 2005, closely followed with his second at the STC and his third at Birmingham National. He was shown quite a bit in 2006 & 2007, sparingly after that, but won his last CC his 21st at the LKA 2008. In all he won 7 BIS at Sealyham Specialty shows including the prestigious STC Centenary in 2008. In all he won one Group 1,a 2, a 3 and two 4, short-listed on a number of occassions too. He was Top Sealyham in 2005/06/07/08, Top Stud dog in 2007 & 08, (leading already for 2009), he won BOB at Crufts twice. He has 4 UK champions, 3 from one litter these being D American Dream, D Dollar & D Duty Free, his other one being Nomis New Beginning and he is also the sire of Int Ch Saore Goodnight Lovers. He also is the sire of at least 7 US champions.
We shall miss him here.
